RALEIGH, N.C. -- Approximately 100 small town leaders came to Raleigh June 6-7 to launch their communities into a two-year revitalization process with the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center.

 

The leaders represent 11 towns accepted this year into the center’s N.C. Small Towns Economic Prosperity Program: Fremont, Garland, Liberty, Madison, Mayodan, Murphy, North Wilkesboro, Roseboro, Rutherfordton, Spring Hope and St. Pauls.

28 graduate from leadership program prepared to move rural communities forward

RALEIGH, N.C. -- As rural North Carolina continues to wrestle with a changing economic landscape, its communities have a new set of tools to tackle those challenges: 28 graduates of the N.C. Rural Economic Development Center's leadership program.

 

The Rural Economic Development Institute is an intensive, three-month training program designed for rural leaders. REDI provides techniques to improve participants' leadership skills while imparting proven strategies to help put those new skills into action. This year's class included town administrators, community volunteers, extension agents and the president of a community college.

$8.6 million in Rural Center grants to create nearly 900 jobs

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The N.C. Rural Economic Development Center has awarded 53 grants totaling $8.6 million to create jobs, provide clean water and assist with economic development in rural counties. The grants will create 894 jobs and aid projects in 31 counties.

 

The center's board of directors approved the grants April 18. The grants were made possible by appropriations of the N.C. General Assembly and state Clean Water Bonds.

$9 million in Rural Center grants to create 1,100 jobs

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The N.C. Rural Economic Development Center has awarded 84 grants totaling $9.14 million to create jobs, improve the availability of health care, and plan water and sewer improvements in rural communities. The grants are projected to create or retain 1,169 jobs and assist projects in 44 counties.

 

The center's board of directors approved the grants Feb. 29. The grants were made possible by appropriations of the N.C. General Assembly and a grant to the Rural Center from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust.

$9.6 million in Rural Center grants to create more than 1,200 jobs

RALEIGH, N.C. — The N.C. Rural Economic Development Center has awarded 62 grants totaling $9.6 million to create new jobs, increase job placements for laid-off workers and provide clean water in rural counties. The grants will create 1,211 jobs and assist projects benefiting 51 counties.

 

The grants were approved by the center’s board of directors Nov. 16 and made possible by appropriations of the N.C. General Assembly and other funders.
